I’m pleased to announce I just signed a contract with Moody Publishers to write my 5th book!
The working title is Nowhere To Lay My Head. (Those working titles, I’ve learned, often get tweaked and changed during the book creation process. But for now, this is what we’re calling it.)
Here’s a summary of the project:
The God-blessed life looks suspiciously like the American Dream for many of us: a white-picket fence surrounding a Miracle on 34th Street Cape Cod located on 123 Main Street. The home is filled to overflowing with always-happy family and friends. From beginning to end, Scripture is populated with unsettled, displaced wanderers. As both consequence and calling, God uproots settlers in order to make pilgrims out of them.
Nowhere To Lay My Head will offer readers an overview of the theme of exile in Scripture with the message that exile is neither a permanent identity nor destination zip code. It is meant to be a refining process of heart, soul, mind, and strength that transforms us individually and corporately into twenty-first century pilgrims.
I’ve blogged at Patheos for several years under the banner of Pilgrim’s Road Trip. This pilgrim theme is core to my own understanding of identity, discipleship, and mission. I’m looking forward to discovering where this new writing journey takes my readers and I. I hope you’ll join me!
May these words of my mouth and this meditation of my heart be pleasing in your sight, LORD, my Rock and my Redeemer. – Psalm 19:14
